ULTIMATE DANCE CONNECTION: Important Information!
Posted: April 27th 2023 – UPDATED: May 6th 2023.
Hello Everyone,
We have our final Ultimate Dance Connection schedule for our FINAL event. Please note the competition is only running on Saturday & Sunday. Your schedule is attached HERE.
Parking: I can already notify you that you will want to leave additional time for parking. There are only 2 public access paking lots on campus. One is extremely close to the FFT and the Fine Arts budilding and one is on the complete other side of campus. There is street parking throughout campus. Please note that an app is now used for all parking on the York U campus. This will help ensure that you do not run out of your parking time and receive a ticket. You will be prompted to download when you enter.
NOTES FROM THE COMPEITTION:
The Faire Fecan Theatre on the York University campus was built in 2006 and is the undiscovered gem of the Ontario competitive dance scene circuit! The facility, from the stage, backstage and dressing rooms is new and spacious. The stage itself is very large with ample wing space. Dressing rooms are large, well appointed and plentiful. This venue is conveniently located off of Highway 400.
Note: Theatre is in Accolade East Building (building 92)/ parking is in building 84 Please click on the this link to get a map of the university to ensure you can find our location on the campus. LEAVE EXTRA TIME WHEN COMING TO THIS LOCATION. University campuses can be confusing!
PARKING:
- We recommend parking in the Student Services parking lot, (building #84 on the campus map) which is kitty corner to the theatre.
- Parking: I can already notify you that you will want to leave additional time for parking. There are only 2 public access parking lots on campus. One is extremely close to the FFT and the Fine Arts building and one is on the complete other side of campus. There is street parking throughout campus. Please note that an app is now used for all parking on the York U campus. This will help ensure that you do not run out of your parking time and receive a ticket. You will be prompted to download when you enter.
- You pay via HONK mobile app and you need to pay UPON ENTRY, not when you leave ; if people wait to pay they will be ticketed by City of Toronto, not York U.
- Vehicle are identified via license plate so it is very important that the plate number be entered correctly into the APP otherwise that could also result in a ticket.
- Once the flat day rate is paid, people can come and go out of the garage they are parking in for that day, provided there are spaces to park.
CHANGEROOMS: Will open at 7:00 am each day.
- Dressing rooms are assigned.
- Thank you in advance for sharing the space with other studios, and for leaving the space clean at the end of the weekend for further renters.
- Please have hair and make-up done before arriving at the theatre
- Dressing rooms open one hour prior to the first routine dancing on stage each day. If you arrive early you will unfortunately have to wait to gain access to the dressing rooms.
REHEARSAL ROOM: 2nd floor.
- There is a spacious dance studio on the 2nd floor provided for your use.
- This will be an open rehearsal room for all dancers. No parents allowed. You can of course can walk your dancer to the rehearsal space.
PHOTOS & VIDEOS:
This year we have an awesome and unique photo/video crew on site selling photos and videos. Stream Stage will be upping the content experience of your average dance video by shooting routines from 4 camera angles! We know this will be really popular with dance parents, and ask that you pass on the attached flyer to them in advance of the competition. Thanks for your help!
LIVE STREAM:
UDC will be livestreaming its competitions this year – thanks to the tech skills of Stream Stage! Go to our main website page to log on during the weekend. A small fee will be charged for access to the livestream.

Hello Everyone,
We have planned all competitive team photos on Sunday to ensure that all competitive team hair guidleines can be followed and also to allow for us to take our company photos.
Please ensure your dancers black dance attire does not have logos to the best of your ability. A small lulu lemon logo is rather unseen. We cannot use images with white Under Armour logos etc. Dancers should be in a bodysuit and shorts (no tights) or are also welcome to wear a crop top, fitted dance tank top, and shorts as other options.
Seasonal Photos: Please let the studio know if you have other fun things for our seasonal and promotional photos. Do you have a fun halloween costume, or a holiday dress with santa faces on it! We always love to include new things in our seasonal images. This year we have gone ahead and purchased some snowman dance costumes, elf costumes, etc for seasonal pictures.

Please plan for extra time, for many this is your first competitive experience, and for everyone it is our first time in this specific venue. There is limited parking for the theatre itself but there is surrounding parking. Please plan for some extra time incase you need to walk from up or down the street.
Tickets will go on sale on Monday January 30th. It is important to note that all tickets are going on sale via the Townhall Theatre through a direct link for the first two weeks (for our competitive families only) before they go on sale to the public. The seating for the showcase is NOT general admission. It is assigned seating. Please ensure you are selecting the seats you wish to sit in. We will send an e-mail when our link is live where you will be able to purchase your tickets on Monday. Due to fire code everyone who wishes to sit in the theatre will need a ticket, including dancers. Company A & B, your schedule is quite full and you will not have time to sit in the theatre. PE 3, please review your running order and make the best judgement on if you would like your dancer to have a ticket. If you are a PE 1 or 2 dancer who will be sitting inside for the show, please ensure you are backstage no later than 5 routines before your dance is set to go on stage.
Attached HERE you will find the Dress Rehearsal Schedule and the Show Running Order. Please ensure you have reviewed your show order to properly prepare your costumes for the show.
Dress Rehearsal: Company A, B, and PE 3 dancers, please arrive by 9:30 am to get yourself sorted in the changing areas before your rehearsal commences as you do not have much time before your transition into show time when your rehearsal period ends. PE 1 & 2 dancers, please ensure you have arrived no later than 15 minutes before your rehearsal time (ready to dance and in the theatre). If we are running early, we will continue to do so.
There will be NO lunch order being placed for showcase. Please ensure you have packed something for your dancers to eat or are planning accordingly to have the time needed to get them something to eat before show time. A gentle reminder that your dancer should not be eating a large meal 20 – 30 minutes before going on stage.
Petite Elite 1 & 2: Please arrive with hair and make-up completed. Lipstick can be added when their rehearsal and snacking before stage time is over.
Company A, B, and PE 3: Please review your rehearsal schedule to ensure that you have time to do your make-up. Your hair should be done before arrival. SEPTEMBER 25th: Competitive Team News & Meeting
Hello everyone,
The countdown is on! As we look to starting a new competitive team season excitement is in the air as we welcome 12 new dancers to the team. I know that our existing competitive team families will be nothing but helping hands when the possible moments of confusion, questions, and competition day stress may set in. Please know… it is a learning process!
I hope everyone has had a moment to review the Parent Portal. Moving forward it is wise to only use the competitive side of the portal. This will ensure that nothing is missed. The COMPETITION tab is only found on your side of the portal while all other sections are mirrors of one another. Please check! We already have our tentative competition weekends posted as well as our competitive team showcase date in March. Mark your calendars!
BAND: Band is your best friend. Please download it if you haven’t had to do so for a summer program at the studio yet. If your dancer is old enough to take on some responsibility (Company A & B dancers), please ensure they are in the group also. There is a BAND group for the entire competitive team and a BAND group for each individual team. Please ensure you have added yourself to the team BAND and your specific group BAND also.
Full Team Band – Clikc HERE
PE 1 – Click HERE
PE2 – Click HERE
Pe3 – Same group as last year.
Company A & B – Same group as last year.
Competitive Team Meeting: We will be holding our in person competitive team meeting on Sunday October 23rd from 11:00 am – 12:30 pm. Please ensure one parent from each dancers family is in attendance. Important information for the year will be reviewed. We will also have a demonstration of hair and make-up for each age group as not all dancers have the same requirements. If your dancer is doing their own hair and make-up (Company A & B) it is important that they be there. Petite Elite 1 – 3, your dancer can remain at home. We will require that one day in November your dancer comes to the studio for their class, in full hair and make-up following the meeting, to give you feedback.
Any absences from October – December need to be shared as soon as possible. Things move very quickly through the beginning of the year. We will be measuring for costumes in October, costume fittings, and alterations during the months of November – December. If your dancer is not there… we cannot fix their costume if needed.
Please ensure that you have reviewed the Competitive Team What To Wear Guide. Specific shoe requirements are in place for competitive team students so that they all have the same shoes for the stage. Please make sure that you are purchasing the correct shoes when heading to the dance store.
